The VGA splitter is one of the more efficient ways of creating a dual monitor connector. What type of splitter do I need for dual monitors?

USB docking station has an HDMI or Display port plus a VGA or DVI port. But what you can do is buy a USB docking station. Using an HDMI splitter you can connect two monitors but they will display the same image so the purpose of two monitors is defeated. One HDMI port can connect to one monitor only. Make sure Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor is checked. It should prompt you if you want to enable this monitor.Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. How do I use a second monitor with my laptop? This works if you have only one HDMI port on your laptop but you need two HDMI ports. Use a switch splitter, such as a Display splitter to have two HDMI ports. This works if you have two different ports for your laptop and your monitor. Use an adapter, such as an HDMI to DVI adapter.

To resolve this issue, you can update, reinstall, or roll back the driver to a previous version to fix and restore the connection between your computer and the second monitor.

Why does my docking station not recognize second monitor?Ī buggy, outdated, or corrupted graphics driver may be one of the main reasons why Windows 10 won’t detect your second PC monitor.
I am trying to setup the main display to become only displayed on external monitor 1 and monitor 2, not the laptop screen at all.

This is happening for both computers (the Mac and the PC). I have two monitors connected to the HDMI splitter but they are both mirroring each other while the main laptop screen remains the main display. Because it's connected to each monitor they both turn on and I can alternate between Mac and PC dual screen no problem! Cheers All I need to do is plug in the HDMI that's connected to the computer I plan to use into the input side of the splitter.
Now I have two HDMIs, one connected to each monitor and both connected to the same splitter. Got it figured out! All I needed was an 2-output HDMI splitter. Please let me know if I can provide any other info and thanks! I’m not sure if the hdmi - display port setup needs to follow a certain pattern but have heard it’s only possible to go display port to hdmi and not the other way around. Can only get one monitor to work for one computer at a time and that has been by connecting hdmi cord to the docking station w another hdmi cord to the monitor. Docking station is connected to each monitor via HDMI to display port cables. Have been running the connection as follows Ĭomputer is connected to docking station via HDMI. So far I have only been able to get a single monitor to dock with a single computer. I have two 27” LG monitors and am trying to connect them both to a Dell 6000D universal docking station so I can have both monitors connected to two different computers and switch between two computers (relatively) easy/quickly.
